More oil thefts

DESPITE recent warnings by police, the theft of heating oil is continuing on the Lizard.

The latest thefts were from property in High Street, St Keverne, and LaFlouder Lane, Mullion.

Both offences took place between March 30 and April 5. Police have asked householders and neighbours to be vigilant and, if possible, secure compounds where oil tanks are located.

Warning as fuel oil thefts rise

THEFT of fuel oil is on the rise in the Bodmin and Wadebridge area, police have warned.

Seven thefts have been reported in the past two months, with householders losing oil worth hundreds of pounds.

The latest was over the weekend of January 5-6 in Clann Lane, Lanivet.

A police spokesman said tanks should be properly secured, as the risk of theft continued to increase in parallel with rising fuel prices.

“The thefts have ranged from 200 to 2,000 litres,” he said.
